Marble: the beginning

How it all begins

Marble is an amazing stone and also one of the most admired materials for art and architecture. Formed from calcite or dolomite crystals that are subjected to extreme heat and pressure in the interior of the Earth, this brilliant white stone is used in some of the world's most beautiful sculptures, buildings and furniture. Marble was historically mined by the ancient Greeks and continues to be mined from quarries today, all over the world.

What can be done with marble

Following its initial journey there are so many variations and uses that marble can end up becoming. The colours, shapes, sizes and textures all have a part to play in the unique finish of furniture you end up with. It is so distinct that no two pieces will ever be the same. Whether you live in a small London flat, a Country Manor Mansion or Tuscan villa, this stone can suit any location you choose to place it.
